I am not shy about the fact that I am alternative in my fashion and music taste. So, I doubt it will shock anyone to know that I spent my Saturday at Oshawa Emo Night. The Emo Night North brand hosts parties at venues all over the GTA, including Sneaky Dees for those who like to stay in the city. It was a blast, also not my first emo rodeo. I went for the first time back in March and had such a fun time I needed to do it again. They play everything emo from sleeping with sirens, to my favourite: Fall Out Boy, to Sum 41 (a little CANCON). The event is 19 plus so make sure to bring your ID or you will be turned away at the door. But the biggest plus of being ID’d at the door is that it’s the only time you need it. No more did I leave my ID on the bar worries and that’s nice. It’s VERY loud, so if you are sensitive to noise, I’d recommend wearing ear protection. But overall, the energy is what draws me back every time, a room full of people all on the same page enjoying the music we all love, and no one is there to call us freaks or weirdos for our kind of fun.
I can’t speak for any venue but the Biltmore in Oshawa, however parking there is pretty easy to find but mostly because Oshawa loves cars so much it feels like there are more parking lots than needed. Although if you can, public transportation or ride sharing is the way to go. Driving drunk is never the answer.
