I was not born in Fall, but I like it the most out of the 4 seasons!
In Hong Kong my hometown, “autumn” is widely considered the more formal name for this season. Anyway, in Canada and other countries in the Northern Hemisphere, Fall starts the moment the Sun is directly over the Equator, going from north to south.
You may wonder why many visitors and I especially like September and October. The autumn weather has a mild temperature, which is the perfect balance between summer’s heat and winter’s chill. What matters most is the wonderful fall colour.
As the temperatures dip, plants undergo their natural change of color – the fiery red, gold and amber. Then deciduous trees start to shed their leaves. Maple, birch, ash, oak, and elm are examples. Whenever I see leaves turning from green to red, orange, yellow and then brown before they fall from the trees within a few weeks, I am so amazed at the Creator’s superb painting technique! I hope you have the same feeling. If you consider travelling to Canada, I suggest coming during this short but stunning season, to see the nature’s dramatic show of vibrant colours. For Seneca students, do have a walk in the campus courtyard.
To talk more about October, it can also be a month of delicious food. Putting aside our study or work, everyone needs food to keep us healthy and strong. In October, people often think of the Thanksgiving turkey, the pumpkin pie, and colorful candies for the Trick-or-Treaters, all relevant with the eatable. You may have heard about the Summerlicious and the Winterlicious. This year, there is also the Pizzalicious. It’s a month-long Pizza Festival held for the first time in Toronto. It aims at bringing together the overlooked small local pizzerias against the challenges of larger food chains and franchises. Why not go and pick delicious hot pies, with new tastes and special deals? Follow participating pizzerias such as Ambassador Pizza Co. on social media for details. It is often a good thing that we give others a chance to start well, build up, and even to learn from mistakes, especially small businesses, freshmen and young ones. 😊
