So you’re probably wondering… What the heck is the name of this blog? Well, I’m glad you asked, because I do not know either! Just kidding, I’m the blog writer, of course I know what this is! Anyway, let’s get it on! So pretty much the story consists of a young man trying to get somewhere in the world (if you can’t tell this is not about me, get fooled!) and his main priority is about protecting his parents. At a young age, he mastered the ability to use mana, which is what it is called in the book (now I’m talking about a book now?), he’s been in jail at 15 years old for defeating the bad guys and is now trying to save a freaking continent! If you don’t know what I am talking about (which you don’t), the book/manga/manhwa is called, “The Beginning After the End”, which follows the story of Arthur Leywin from being a newborn to now a 17-year-old drinking alcohol (yes this is true I’m not the author don’t look at me). I got recommended this book from my friend who, I should say, was really pushing me to read this because it is “peak”. So I took a gander (admittedly almost a couple of weeks after he recommended it to me) and I will say, I immediately fell in love with it. I did also forget to mention that the title plays an important role in this book. Throughout the book, Arthur refers to his past, in which he was a king trying to defend his kingdom from whatever came at him. To be honest, I am not sure if I am fit for reviewing this alone so I got my friend who recommended me the book to put his thoughts on it so I’ll put it here:
Tbate (short for the Beginning After the End) like all great stories is a series about being better for the sake of your loved ones, the genre of isekai (type of genre in Japan) as of today has kind of been tainted with lots of bad anime, however early tbate inspired by mushoku tensei (hey Sean here, if you’re asking what this means, I don’t know either) takes a creative approach to the genre. The series emphasizes the importance of relationships and how it can affect the characters in a real way, similar to other in its genre the main character is kinda overpowered but is shown to be humbled throughout the story, which shows how real turtleme, the author, can make the characters feel. The future of tbate as we know is the continuation of the manwha and novel, with an anime show on the way. I would highly recommend the series to anyone, as you can consume tbate anyway you wish. The series as a whole with some of the bad I would give a 9/10 (and I am usually pretty harsh with my ratings), however with the best moments included and turtleme’s peak writing/ descriptions of the awesome fight scenes that Sean will eventually see in the manwha, elevates tbate to my top 3 in some of the best media I have ever consumed.
So there you have it! That is my thoughts on the book (and my friend) and why you should read it. Until next time, I’m Sean Ramnarine, book reviewer (totally).
