This time, I’d like to talk a little bit about a leading figure in popular music, an American signer-songwriter. She’s now in Toronto doing her 6-show concert series. It’s she and her name is Taylor Alison Swift. Her almost uncountable number of fans worldwide also has a name, and they’re called Swifties. And this noun meaning is defined in the Oxford Dictionary in 2023. Taylor Swift is regarded the most-awarded artist. The American Music Awards, the Billboard Music Awards, the MTV Video Music Awards, and the Grammy Awards are examples. She’s the first woman to be named Time’s Person of the Year for twice (2017 and 2023) and the first entertainer ever to be named Person of the Year. Up till December 2023, she has registered 118 Guinness World Records.
Back to the younger days, Swift started out as a country singer-songwriter and released her self-titled debut studio album in 2006 at the age of almost 17. In fact, she’s fond of singing since childhood. When she was aged 12, Swift started writing songs and learned to play the guitar. Like most world-renowned artists, Swift did come across being turned down in the early stage of her performance life. But rejections didn’t stop her. She became determined to distinguish herself. For me, this is what I appreciate the most.
Nobody is born to be a successful figure. Nobody is perfect, too. We must keep on trying, keep doing our best, and keep improving, even though at times we must strive really hard. In fact, everyone has different life encounters. Never admire or be envious of other person’s success without acknowledging the tons of efforts they have put in at the back. Nothing comes easy. But don’t give up easily because everything takes time as well. Stay positive. I do ask and remind myself so from time to time. And what about you?
With best wishes,
