Days ago, I’ve heard a song called “A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed” by Skafield, which is a band from Germany. In fact, it’s the song title that has attracted me. I immediately think of a famous proverb which has exactly the same wording. The dictionary defines it to be “a person who helps at a difficult time is a truly reliable person.” This is so true from what I have been experiencing since taking full-time study here for almost two years. I’ve been receiving care, concern, and assistance from friends and churchmates here who expect no return at all.
Let me quote some examples. In the early stage, they helped me settle down by gifting me something like cooking utensils or giving me a ride here and there. And throughout all semesters, whenever I must involve someone to complete my different assignments, they’re willing to accept my invitation without hesitation. When I’m upset, they say encouraging words. Shouldn’t I be grateful? We should take nothing for granted.
Thank God that, in addition to my dear family members, I know I have true friends also here in Canada, not just in my home city. They really are “A Friend in Need is a Friend Indeed.”
