The Godfather, originally known as the critically-acclaimed novel written by Mario Puzo, was translated onto the silver screen by both Puzo and amateur director (at the time) Francis Ford Coppola in 1972 starring Marlon Brando, Al Pacino, James Caan, Diane Keaton, Jon Cazale, Robert Duvall, and Talia Shire, and immediately was recognized as the greatest movie of all-time.
The Godfather, known as Don Vito Corleone played by Marlon Brando, is the head of the Corleone crime family, whom he runs with his children, Sonny (James Caan), Fredo (Jon Cazale), and Tom (Robert Duvall). When tragedy strikes the family, it takes the actions of the Corleone family’s youngest son, Michael (Al Pacino), who is an outsider to the family business, to step-up and face the threats of the other crime families.
I’ve loved this movie in more ways than one, as there were so many different elements that made it masterpiece. There is the emotionally- gripping story that will keep you on the edge of your seat, the star-studded cast and their amazing performances, the beautiful cinematography, and not to mention, the amazing soundtrack that truly encapsulate the core elements of the film, which was composed from the brilliant mind of Nino Rota. This movie is truly a masterpiece of cinema and will always go down in history as one of the greatest movies of all time.
