Firts-time parent starting a life in Canada part 2

In my adventure of being a father, watching everything evolve around me, I just stay watching my wife as she tries to survive a beating called “childbirth” and my mother-in-law, who I consider was more than a help, tried to make her understand that what had happened was the best thing in life.

I understood that as a man I was only good for bringing and carrying things, I say this because every time night fell and the baby cried, my wife’s first reaction was to jump on her as if she were a bungee jumper, while I was there behind her as the jumping instructor, but every time that happened, I stayed behind or in front of mother and daughter in the process of breastfeeding asking “What do I do?” To which my wife responded with a tense calm “Bring me this and bring me that.” I would have liked to have breasts so I could change shifts when she felt tired.

Days went by and uncertainty grew because we had just arrived at a small apartment which we acquired because it was close to my work and my place of studies.

But we had no idea that this place was infested with cockroaches, guys… COCKROACHES!!!

I consider that as the days of my life go by I have become stronger, I don’t say this because of physical strength but mental strength, since I was able to overcome all the monsters that I imagined as a child, I was able to overcome the fears of expressing myself in public, I was able to overcome speaking to a girl that I liked, I was able to learn to speak in another language, so many fears that I remember that had me limited, but hey!… COCKROACHES!! NOOOOO!!!

There is nothing that terrifies me more than these little bugs that, truth be told, have been scientifically proven to fulfill their function in nature beyond being a link in the food chain, because they act “as decomposers and recyclers of decomposing organic matter, such as detritus, remains of plants and dead animals,” a task that maintains the balance of the ecosystem, but please no!

By the way we call this place “The Hollow”
