According to a blogTo post of January 20, a Toronto high school student had walked the entire Sheppard Avenue that’s exactly 39.37 kms in last November. With short breaks and stops for food, the walk was done over 10 hours and 32 mins, in the company of his friend and his dad. The student said his walk was simply due to a random thought which is “I can say I’ve done it”! I won’t say this is crazy because everyone has the freedom to do something as long as it’s not illegal, immoral, or causing inconvenience or troubles to others. Personally, I had a similar random thought years ago, and that was: I must visit all the 7 Continents and the 5 Oceans. They’re Asia, Africa, North & South America, Antarctica, Europe and Australia. The 5 Oceans are the Pacific, the Atlantic, the Arctic, the Indian and the Southern (that means the Antarctic). Thank God that He allows me to do so and now I can also say “I’ve done it”!
In life, whatever we do, there may be worthiness in it, there may be sacrifices, there may be regrets. Whatever it is, for sure there’s a cost. The high school student had to wake up as early as 5:30 and persist on finishing the long walk. For me, I must work hard before I can enjoy all my pleasure trips. We need to put in time and effort to make an achievement. As a proverb says since the 1980s, “No pain, no gain”. Greater value rewards for the price of hard and even painful work.
Do hope that I can further say “I’ve done it” at the end of this my last semester at Seneca. Let’s all not forget to be humble even when “I’ve done it!”,
Blessings!
